Roger Federer wins his record 8th Wimbledon singles title

Image
Ending with a marvelous tournament performance in which he never dropped a set, Roger Federer of Switzerland won his eighth Wimbledon trophy and record 19th Grand Slam event overall by outclassing Marin Cilic of Croatia 6-3, 6-1, 6-4. Maria Sharapova will be back in WTA tournament this April!

Image
Maria Sharapova is anticipating mixed reactions about her return to the competition after an anti-doping ban. Sharapova, who tested positive for meldonium, said she took the drug for so many years and did not know that it had recently been banned when she took it before and during the 2016 Australian Open. The Russian received a reduced 15-month ban from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which found that she did notdeliberately intend to break anti-doping rules. Maria Sharapova will return to the WTA tour in Stuttgart in late April. Fans of WTA have something to look out for! (credit to the owner of the photos)
