The Walking Dead Producers Cancel TCA Press Panel Appearance To Attend Stuntman John Bernecker's Funeral

Image
The Walking Dead producers have canceled their upcoming press tour panel at the Television Critics Association to attend the funeral of stuntman John Bernecker, who died in an on-set accident last month. Showrunner Scott Gimple was expected to attend the bi-annual press event on Saturday alongside executive producers Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman, Dave Alpert, and Greg Nicotero. But producers have decided to skip out on the event as it would conflict with the 33-year-old's funeral service, AMC said in a statement on Thursday. Bernecker was filming a stunt for Season 8 in July which required him to fall over 20 feet off of a balcony onto a safety pad. According to assistant director Matthew Goodwin, Bernecker failed to get a "good separation" from the balcony and missed the safety cushion, instead landing on his head and neck on the concrete. Bernecker was airlifted to an Atlanta medical center and was placed on a ventilator, which his family op

The Killer Ride: Victim injured on Ohio State Fair ride speaks out

Image
One of the eight victims of a deadly ride malfunction at the Ohio State Fair this week is speaking out after leaving the hospital. Abdihakim Hussein told WCMH that Wednesday's ride turned horror machine was his very first trip to a fair and definitely would be his last. The 19-year-old and his 20-year-old girlfriend Hannah Sallee had lined up for the Fire Ball just after arriving at the Columbus-based event with friends. As the Fire Ball swung in its signature pendulum motion during the ride, the pair noticed the ground was creeping closer and closer to them. If that wasn't scary enough, the employee running the attraction didn't seem to know how to stop it. Hussein recalled: "I'm sitting there scared, trying to get off and it's still swinging. I'm looking at the dude like, ‘Are you going to stop this?' And he didn't know what he was doing, just clicking the button. Afterwards, he just ran." The first time rider said debris fro

Chester Bennington's widow was devastated following the Linkin Park frontman's suicide. As reported, the Numb artist died last week after committing suicide via hanging on what would've been his friend Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday. While Bennington's bandmates and peers have already spoken out about the rocker's untimely passing, Talinda Bennington has only just released a statement as she's still trying to make sense of the tragedy that has plagued her family. The former Playboy model explained: "One week ago, I lost my soul mate and my children lost their hero—their Daddy. We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy. How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left. I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their

Roger Federer wins his record 8th Wimbledon singles title

Image
Ending with a marvelous tournament performance in which he never dropped a set, Roger Federer of Switzerland won his eighth Wimbledon trophy and record 19th Grand Slam event overall by outclassing Marin Cilic of Croatia 6-3, 6-1, 6-4. After Roger Federer closed out a Wimbledon final that was more of a coronation than a contest with an ace, he sat in his changeover chair and wiped away tears. That is when it hit the Swiss superstar: His wait for record-breaking title No. 8 was over. Until then, Federer wasn’t focused on the notion of winning the grass-court tournament more often than any other man in the history of an event first held in 1877. All he had been concerned with, consumed with, was being healthy enough to compete at a high level and, he hoped, to win a title, regardless of what the total count would be. “Wimbledon was always my favorite tournament. Will always be my favorite tournament. My heroes walked the grounds here and walked the courts he

City of Manila wins Miss Philippines Earth 2017

"Everyone [is] experiencing climate change. I’m just grateful that the Philippines has signed the Paris Treaty. What I want to see is to pass a carbon tax. In that way, we would invest in renewable energy to help our world to be a better place, greener, inhabitable for the whole country." Karen Ibasco, a 26-year-old physicist and college instructor representing Manila, won this year’s Miss Philippines Earth pageant and earned the right to represent the country in Miss Earth 2017 in November. A contestant in last year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant, Karen once dreamt of becoming a doctor but is glad that she was able to help cure the sick just the same in her capacity as a medical physicist. And because of her profession, Karen’s advocacy is focused on “the conservation of energy and to embrace renewable and sustainable sources of energy in exchange for fossil fuel, which contributes to a huge percentage in global warming.” Good luck to Karen
